Susan Crawford
“Every piece of this collection is carefully intertwined with the next: stories, inspiration, colours and yarns are all different yet connected, creating a knitted tapestry, echoes of each one woven together. I hope you enjoy knitting them as much as I have done!”
Susan Crawford is a British knitwear designer, fashion historian and author, known for her work on modernising vintage knitwear patterns. She lives in the Lake District in North West England — an area with stunning landscapes that also impact her work. Susan is particularly inspired by the stories carried within textiles and the intertwining of history and stitches.
Susan is the author of several knitting books — all of which share her fascination with this interconnectivity. She is appreciated around the world for her beautiful designs which bring these threads together in highly wearable knitwear.
Besides designing knitwear patterns and writing books, Susan has her own hand-dyed yarn range, using custom blends of British breed sheep, spun in the UK and hand-dyed in a kaleidoscope of colours at her studio in a former mill.
Echoes: 24 Modern Knits Inspired by Iconic Women is Susan’s eighth book.
