Description

Selja (Finnish for “elder”) is a lightweight summer sweater knitting pattern worked top down as one piece. Knitted with two strands of 100% linen yarn or any sport-weight yarn, the garter stitch pullover alternates knit and purl rounds, creating a soft, breathable, and comfortable summer knitwear piece.

With an identical front and back, Selja can be worn either way. This quick and uncomplicated sweater pattern is beginner-friendly yet satisfying for more experienced knitters. The stretchy garter stitch pullover is pinned to measurements at the end, ensuring a perfect fit.

Bust circumference: 38.25 (43, 48, 53, 56.5, 61.5)” / 95.5 (107.5, 120, 132.5, 141.5, 154) cm.

Length from underarm to hem: 15 (15, 15, 15, 15, 15)” / 38 (38, 38, 38, 38, 38) cm or desired length.

Sleeve length from underarm: 10 (10, 10, 10, 10, 10)” / 25.5 (25.5, 25.5, 25.5, 25.5, 25.5) cm.

MATERIALS
Yarn: 8 (8, 9, 10, 10, 12) balls of Katia Lino (100% linen, 164 yds / 150 m – 50 g), colourway 7 – Light beige. Or approx. 1312 (1312, 1476, 1640, 1640, 1968) yds / 1200 (1200, 1350, 1500, 1500, 1800) m total of sport weight yarn.

Needles: US 9 / 5.5 mm 32–40” / 80–100 cm circular needles.

Notions: 4 stitch markers, scrap yarn, tapestry needle.

GAUGE
13 sts x 18 rows to 4” / 10 cm in garter stitch (with two strands of yarn held together) after blocking.
