Pattern Previews for My City, My Stitches

The patterns in My City, My Stitches by Jenny Ansah range from small accessories to sweaters, vests and cardigans — offering everything from quick, satisfying projects to texture-rich garments designed for everyday wear. The garments are graded to fit chest circumferences of up to 59″ / 150 cm.

Vuokki

Vuokki by Jenny Ansah

This cosy, top-down pullover features textured stitch patterns that can be found in other designs in the book.  

Yarn: Nurja Merino Sock DK by Nurja, colourway: Kristalli.  

Puhos

Puhos ny Jenny Ansah

The textured cardigan got its inspiration from a cobalt blue statue found in Puhos, and how it contrasts brightly against the areas grey apartment blocks.

Yarn: Heirloom DK by Woollentwine Fibrestudio, colourway Undyed.

Laajis

Laajis by Jenny Ansah

The rectangular scarf is worked from one end to the other, in the round and flat. After working all the colour blocks and stripes, you will work i-cord fringes for each end of the scarf.

Yarn: Puno Fine by Majo Garn, colourways Taupe, Ivory, Artichoke, Lemon and Rhapsody.

Itis

Itis by Jenny Ansah

The orange-red metro and the constant flow of people at the station was Jenny's inspiration for Itis. For the sweater she wanted to capture cables mimicking the metro map and the orange-red metro.

Yarn: German Merino by Mominoki, colourway Double Pumpkin.

Kulis

Kulis by Jenny Ansah

The socks are worked toe-up to cuff, finishing with a striped twisted rib cuff. They make a cute pair with trainers!

Rastila

Rastila by Jenny Ansah

This relaxed sweater is worked top down in worsted-weight yarn. It is an homage to Jenny’s late father.

Yarn: Everyday by Bread & Butter, colourway Porcini.

Hertsika

Hertsika by Jenny Ansah

The pullover is worked top down, flat and in the round, in a striped pattern. It’s worked in bulky-weight yarn so the result is ultra cosy!

Yarn: Unforgettable Alpaca by Sunday Knitting Club, colourways Chocolate Powder, Whipped Cream and Chocolate Mousse.

Siilitie

Siilitie by Jenny Ansah

The zig zag pattern in the top-down vest was inspired by hedgehogs (siili in Finnish). It is worked with fingering-weight yarn together with lace-weight yarn.

Yarn: Luxury Soft Merino by Kaos Yarn, colourway Optimistic, and Halo Brushed Alpaca by Kaos Yarn, colourway Optimistic.

Arska

Arska by Jenny Ansah

This scrunchie offers a fun and quick project to use up leftover yarns and experiment with different colour combinations or stripe widths.

Yarn: Japan Wool by Daruma, colourway Raisin, together with Edith by Novita, colourway Autuus, and Luxury Soft Merino by Kaos Yarn, colourway Optimistic, together with Halo Brushed Alpaca by Kaos Yarn, colourway Optimistic.

Roihis

Roihis by Jenny Ansah

The vest is worked flat top down with lace-weight yarn held double. You can work optional textured pockets separately and sew them to the front panels (not shown in the photos).

Puotila

Puotila by Jenny Ansah

The beanie is worked bottom up in the round for the brim and body. The brim is triple-folded, but you can also double-fold it if preferred.

Kontula

Kontula by Jenny Ansah

The slipover is worked bottom up, both flat and in the round and features an intarsia pattern on the body.

Yarn: Tandem by Westwool, colourways Powder, Chestnut, Kardemumma, Beatrix and Roswitha.

Meltsi

This top-down cardigan has beautiful cables in the raglan seams. The designs was inspired by Jenny’s grandma who lives in Mellunmäki.

Yarn: Fishermen’s Wool by Lion Brand Yarn, colourway Nature’s Brown.

Myllypuro

Myllypuro by Jenny Ansah

The hat has a textured pattern created with cables and bobbles. It gives you a great opportunity to decide how long you would like the brim to be (double or triple-folded), to use up scrap yarn and do multiple colour combinations.

Yarn: Fingering Singles by The Wandering Flock, colourway Sky Blue, together with Mohair Lace by The Wandering Flock, colourway Cosmic Tye Dye.

Niinis

Niinis by Jenny Ansah

The mini scarf will keep your neck warm. It is worked from tip to tip in a textured pattern.

Yarn: Japan Wool by Daruma, colourway Raisin, together with Edith by Novita, colourway Autuus.
