"Embroidery has a reputation for meticulous diligence, a good thing in many ways, but that is an optional part of what makes it beautiful. My approach is a little different: I love to liberate the stitches, letting them grow bigger and wilder as an expression of my inner and outer worlds."

Judit Gummlich

"Judit’s artistry is in how she encourages us to continue our exploration beyond stitch-by-stitch instruction, and as we do so, we discover how it can be a canvas for a new palette of stitches, or a page for a new lexicon. We are invited to disrupt the surface and at the same time celebrate it with yet more."

The writing is so thoughtful

I finally treated myself to my first Laine books (yes, I bought two!). The writing is so thoughtful; it feels like the author is reading my mind. Every time I had a doubt, the explanation was right there waiting for me. I’m loving the digital edition—being able to zoom in makes reading so much easier on my eyes, and I love that it saves my place every time.

The layout is amazing

The layout made it so usable! And it is so beautiful even if I didn’t use it for the patterns, which I already have, it’s stunning to look at and read!

Beautiful, inspiring book

Laine publishing is my go to publisher when I feel the need to add a new book to my collection. I recent ordered Embroidery on knits, 52 weeks of chunky knits and 52 weeks of scrappy knitting. I am reading them every night and look forward to casting on very soon.

This is well written

I bought this book in London at The Loop when Judit was there. It was busy, I was visiting from abroad, it was spontaneous. First the book is beautiful, hence the spontaneous buy. I have finally gotten to using it and comparing it to other books in the shop I work at in the States. This book has proven the one I go to again and again to get clear instructions, accurate photos and drawings and "an entire lesson" which is helpful when I am helping others who are first embroidering on knitted items. The book is simple in places, but that also helps me, as an instructor, to back up and use basic language, double check the beginnings and ends - all to help my students to success. I recommend this book even though it is higher priced. There is a reason for that.
