Submission Call for Laine’s Spring & Summer Issues

It’s time for the Submission Call for Laine Magazine issues 24 and 25, spring and summer 2025!

In the midst of winter, we are already preparing for next year’s spring and summer. For these two issues, we are in search of go-to pieces for warmer weather and clothes you will pack to take with you on an adventure. Imagine jacket-less, carefree days, sweet strawberry ice cream in a cone, walking barefoot on warm sand and having a cold drink with friends by the sea.

We are looking for a collection of relaxed oversized sweaters and cardigans, small scarves, tees, skirts and even shorts that form the base of your wardrobe for spring and summer. Fascinating textures capture our attention! In addition to wool, we also want to feature plant-based yarns in delicious colours. Like always, Laine projects should not only look stunning but also be enjoyable to knit — those kinds of WIPs you just cannot put down even if it’s way past midnight. In other words, knits you can lose yourself into. As we like to say here at Laine: simple is not boring.

The submission call runs from February 12 to March 24, 2024. If your design has been selected, we will notify you by mid-April, 2024.

Compensation is based on difficulty. Compensation is paid as soon as we have received the sample and the finished, test knitted pattern and tech editing is completed. Yarn support is organised by Laine in collaboration with yarn companies. Laine holds the exclusive rights to the patterns for 5 months (beginning from the publication day of the magazine). After the exclusivity period, designers are free to sell the pattern on their own as well.

Submit your designs (several entries are more than welcome!) to Send all your submissions in one email. Please note that we accept original designs only. Patterns may not have been published or shared elsewhere (inc. pictures of WIPs or finished projects).

Provide at least the following information: your name, possible designer website or Ravelry username, a detailed description of your design (inc. an estimation of provided charts) and preferred yarn, a sketch and a swatch. Please remember that this is a print publication and the amount of pages is limited: avoid big or multiple charts (one page fits a chart of approx. 40 x 50 boxes maximum). We would also love to hear the story behind the design: what inspired you, how you think the pattern fits into our publication, etc.

Note that we do not require you to have an already existing portfolio of published patterns, as we take great pride in featuring beginning and less-known designers. We have an experienced and dedicated team providing help and support as needed.

We welcome submissions from around the world no matter your race, ethnicity, religion, ability, gender, size, sexual identity or age. Each submission will be carefully reviewed and considered.
