Submissions

Submission Call: Laine Magazine Issues 32 & 33
Even as winter still holds us in its grip, our thoughts are already drifting toward lighter days ahead. We’re now inviting submissions for the spring and summer 2027 issues of Laine Magazine — Issues 32 and 33.
For these upcoming issues, we’re dreaming of designs inspired by warm-weather living: long, bright days, soft breezes, flowering landscapes and unhurried moments spent outdoors. Think of garments and accessories that feel like natural companions for the season — pieces you reach for again and again, whether you’re enjoying a quiet afternoon in the sun or spending golden evenings with friends.
We’re especially interested in designs that prioritise comfort and ease: relaxed sweaters, airy cardigans, lightweight tops, small accessories like scarves, and perhaps even elegant summer shorts. Textural details are always welcome, and we’d love to see thoughtful use of plant-based fibres in rich, lively colours, alongside our favourite timeless wool yarns.
As ever, Laine designs should be a joy from start to finish — engaging to knit and a pleasure to wear. We’re drawn to designs that truly pull you in — projects you can lose yourself in, that keep your needles moving late into the evening and make you eager to cast on another the moment you bind off. These are the kinds of knits that feel like instant classics.
DEADLINES
The submission call runs until March 1, 2026. We will notify all selected designers as soon as possible, and no later than mid-March 2026.
Note! We are asking for the samples for both of these issues to be delivered earlier than the patterns, as we wish to shoot both issues during the Finnish summer.

COMPENSATION
Compensation is based on difficulty. Compensation is paid as soon as we have received the sample and the finished, test knitted pattern and tech editing is completed. Yarn support is organised by Laine in collaboration with yarn companies. Laine holds the exclusive rights to the patterns for 5 months (beginning from the publication day of the magazine). After the exclusivity period, designers are free to sell the pattern on their own as well.
SUBMISSION
Submit your designs (several entries are more than welcome!) to hello@lainepublishing.com. Send all your submissions in one email. Please note that we accept original designs only. Patterns may not have been published or shared elsewhere (incl. pictures of WIPs or finished projects).
Provide at least the following information: your name, possible designer website or Ravelry username, a detailed description of your design (inc. an estimation of provided charts) and preferred yarn, a sketch and a swatch. We would also love to hear the story behind the design: what inspired you, how you think the pattern fits into our publication, etc. Please remember that this is a print publication and the amount of pages is limited: avoid big or multiple charts (one page fits a chart of approx. 40 x 50 boxes maximum).
Note that we do not require you to have an already existing portfolio of published patterns, as we take great pride in featuring beginning and less-known designers. We have an experienced and dedicated team providing help and support as needed.
We welcome submissions from around the world no matter your race, ethnicity, religion, ability, gender, size, sexual identity or age. Each submission will be carefully reviewed and considered.
