Lazybones Sweater Knitting Kit
With its relaxed silhouette, delicate lace and quietly elegant details, the Lazybones sweater is a timeless knit designed for both comfort and ease. Designed by Heli Hottinen-Puukko for Laine 30, the airy lace motif adds just the right amount of interest while remaining simple to memorise and enjoyable to work.
Lazybones is knitted seamlessly from the top down using one strand of fingering-weight yarn held together with two strands of silk mohair. This combination creates a pillowy fabric that feels wonderfully light yet cosy. Its classic, understated style makes it an effortless addition to any handmade wardrobe.
This knitting kit includes the yarn needed to make your own Lazybones sweater in your chosen colourway:
- Laine x Novita 4ply yarn (quantity based on your chosen size)
- Novita Edith Silk Mohair yarn (held double with the main yarn for softness and lightness).
The sample sweater is knitted in Deep Burgundy (4ply) and Feelings (silk mohair).
Please note that the knitting pattern is not included in this kit. You can find the Lazybones pattern in Laine Magazine Issue 30, available separately.
Simply select your size to receive the correct amount of yarn. Refer to the Sizing tab for guidance on choosing the right size for your kit.

Or approx. 1035 (1120, 1225, 1295, 1365) (1530, 1580, 1680, 1730, 1845) yds / 945 (1025, 1120, 1185, 1245) (1400, 1445, 1535, 1580, 1685) m of fingering-weight yarn.
Yarn 2: 9 (10, 11, 12, 12) (14, 14, 15, 15, 16) balls of Edith by Novita (70% superfine kid mohair, 30% silk, 229 yds / 210 m – 25 g), in the colourway 7851 Feelings.
Or approx. 2060 (2235, 2460, 2585, 2725) (3070, 3150, 3355, 3435, 3665) yds / 1885 (2045, 2250, 2365, 2490) (2805, 2890, 3070, 3150, 3360) m of lace-weight silk mohair yarn.
The sweater is worked by holding 1 strand of fingering-weight yarn together with 2 strands of lace-weight yarn throughout. Alternatively, you may use 1 strand of DK-weight yarn together with 1 strand of lace-weight yarn. You’ll need the same total yds / m of DK-weight and lace-weight yarn as you would of fingering-weight yarn. Please note that the type of yarn affects how the fabric drapes.
Alternative yarn suggestions are for example: 1 strand of Wilhelmi Fingering by Vuonue, Arwetta by Filcolana or Sunday by Sandnes Garn (for Yarn 1), held together with 2 strands of Filcolana Tilia or Isager Silk Mohair (for Yarn 2).
Needles: US 10 / 6 mm circular needles 40–47" / 100–120 cm for body and 16" / 40 cm for sleeves, US 6 / 4 mm circular needles 40–47" / 100–120 cm or DPNs for ribbing.
