Meren taju muuttaa muumien maailman neulotuiksi silmukoiksi. Sitä ovat inspiroineet paitsi muumikirjojen ikoniset hahmot, myös Toven taiteilijuus ja elämäntyyli. Kirja sisältää 23 neuleohjetta 18 lahjakkaalta suunnittelijalta eri puolilta maailmaa.
Neulemalleja ovat innoittaneet niin Muumimamman esiliinan lämpö, Nuuskamuikkusen hiljainen itsenäisyys kuin vapaana vellova meri, joka on vahvasti läsnä Toven työssä. Neuleohjeissa hyödynnetään erilaisia tyylejä ja tekniikoita raidoista pintaneuleisiin ja palmikoista kirjoneuleeseen.
Lopputuloksena on neulekokoelma, joka huokuu sekä lohtua että seikkailuhenkeä – ihan kuten Muumilaaksokin! Ja samoin kuin muumit puhuttelevat yhä uusia sukupolvia, näiden neuleiden on tarkoitus olla pitkäikäisiä kumppaneita, joita vaalitaan ja arvostetaan.

Kirjan 23 neuletta ovat kunnianosoitus Tove Janssonille ja hänen taiteelleen. Ne heijastavat hänen elämänfilosofiaansa, hiljaista eleganssiaan sekä rohkeutta ja vapautta olla oma itsensä.
Meren taju sai alkunsa lapsuusmuistoista – retkistä muumien maailmaan ja tutuista ja kotoisista tarinoista. Tässä kirjassa muumilaakson asukkaat ja heidän seikkailunsa ovat olleet inspiraationa ajattomalle neulekokoelmalle, jossa jokainen silmukka juhlistaa mielikuvitusta ja luovuutta.

Where do I begin? First I’ll start with the premise of the book, a tribute to a wonderful woman and her adorable characters, the way each designer has expressed their interpretation of each piece of knitwear is a story in itself. Then there’s the diversity, there’s something for everyone from beginners to supremely advanced knitters (not me!). Not least is the overall aesthetic, wild rugged seascapes as a backdrop for each individual knitted masterpiece. It’s a stunning book which I shall treasure and knit from for the foreseeable future.

It is a beautiful book with beautiful patterns and as such I would give the book 5 stars. I knit the vest by Julia Wilkens and it bears the mark of not having been test knitted. There are measurements where you are in doubt about where to start from (top of the shoulder - confusing wording) and in addition there are missing instructions on how to make the icord edge and finish the armhole. I have tried to find out if there should be any corrections to the book, but have not been able to find anything. Therefore the book only gets 3 stars.

All of our patterns are both test knitted and tech edited before publication. Unfortunately, it's not always possible to include every construction detail in the written instructions, such as the i-cord edge in this case. Beautiful artwork and beautiful knitting patterns. I’ve started with the tulip scarf and the design is pretty easy to follow. I’m looking forward to knitting the socks and vest! I love the floral designs and it feels very springtime. Another great book by Laine.

I preordered this book and when I received it, I was not disappointed. There's a plethora of patterns that I want to immediately knit! The photos are gorgeous and the instructions seem to be very straightforward. I can't wait to start knitting!
