Our beautiful spring issue, Laine 28, Open Water, takes you on a boat trip to the sunny Baltic Sea: to sun-warmed cliffs, rocky beaches and balmy pine forests. The photos have a lovely retro touch, adding to the easygoing vibe. This abundant issue features 15 knits from international designers. You will find T-shirts and tops worked in summery yarns, as well as sweaters and cardigans that double as outerwear in the warmer months.

Designers featured in this issue: Eun Mi Ahn, Fiona Alice, Autumn Buggs, Nicola Furey, Maria Gomes, Olivia Glennon, Anna Hechtman, Meiju Kallio, Pauliina Leisti, Lisa Meissner, Klara Nilsson, Sara Ottosson, Sanni Pauliina, Marie Régnier and Cata Rubke

Our spring issue’s knitwear photos were taken on the sunny Baltic Sea, on the islands of Karhusaari and Kivisaari outside Helsinki. We got to borrow a beautiful vintage boat, and the styling has a slight retro charm, too! We especially love the hats made by the talented Finnish milliner Paula Kasu (@paulakasu).
If you’re looking for the perfect spring T-shirt, Laine 28 has plenty of options! Pauliina Leisti’s Artist is a relaxed, oversized T-shirt with a repetitive stitch pattern, while Meiju Kallio’s Honeymist features beautiful cables on the shoulders. And Klara Nilsson’s Cloud Tee, with its simple, almost cartoonish motifs, is sure to put a smile on your face!
Cool spring mornings and evenings call for those warmer layers. Fiona Alice's Pinehurst cardigan is worked with two yarns together, creating a thick fabric, while Olivia Glennon’s Seafoam Cables sweater has a lovely coastal vibe. And nothing beats a light spring shawl, such as Lisa Meissner’s joyful Flickflauder — meaning “butterfly” in Swiss German!

“The shoot felt like a carefree summer day with friends. My own studio is also located on an island, and to me, a boat trip is one of the most wonderful things you can do in Helsinki in the summer.”

– Babi Brasileiro (@babibrasileiro), multidisciplinary creative and the model for this issue’s knitwear photos
