Pattern Previews for Shine!

Pattern Previews for Shine!

The patterns in Shine! use a variety of yarns, unconventional constructions and beading in creative ways. Each new cast-on will connect you to the deep joy that can be found in knitting.

A-Line

A-line was born from revisiting a song I hadn’t heard in years. Its message reflects that fragile line between right and wrong, and that boundary is expressed through the I-cord line, while the beadwork and irregularities created with intarsia suggest fragility. Beyond it, the stockinette stitch represents safety.

Yarn: Grey sample: Julie Asselin Fino, colour Biscotti, and Julie Asselin Anatolia, colour Biscotti. Black sample: Julie Asselin Fino, colour Mouton noir, and Julie Asselin Anatolia, colour Mouton noir.

Bohemian

The Bohemian sweater is worked seamlessly in the round from the top down, incorporating short rows in the yoke to shape the neckline. The techniques used in this pattern include beads inserted with a crochet hook, lace, an I-cord braid, and colourwork.

Yarn: MC: Madejasur Kid Mohair, colour Damask; CC: Madejasur Merino Sock, colours Porkey, Peony and Cabernet.

Aurea

The Aurea sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down, with short rows to shape the neckline. The yoke combines lace, colourwork and beadwork, while the body and sleeves are knitted in stockinette stitch, allowing the yoke to stand out as the centerpiece of the design.

Yarn: MC: Artyarns Merino Cloud, colour 250, together with Artyarns Silk Mohair, colour 250; CC: Artyarns Beaded Mohair + Sequins, colour 310.

Shine in the Dark

The Shine in the Dark sweater is worked from the top down, with a relaxed fit and a side braid that adds a subtle yet striking detail. The shine in this piece comes from the yarn itself, a delicate mohair with stellina, which plays with transparency and softness. The sleeves feature the same braid detail at the cuffs as the one around the neckline.

Yarn: MC: Artyarns Silk Mohair Glitter, colour S3; CC: Artyarns Merino Cloud, colour S3.

Intarsia Breeze

Intarsia Breeze is a cardigan inspired by joy and by the energy that emerges when colours vibrate and everything feels brighter. The design brings together two techniques I have worked with extensively over the past years, intarsia and an I-cord braid, adding character and a sense of play to the piece.

Yarn: Madejasur Merino Sock, colours Salvia dot and Flash; Madejasur Kid Mohair, colours Pear and Flash.

Flower Beads

The Flower Beads vest is a short bolero style vest, a delicate piece that will make you shine wherever you go. The design features bead motifs created with different types of beads, inserted using the crochet hook bead-insertion technique.

Yarn: Brown sample: Artyarns Merino Cloud, colour 313, together with Artyarns Silk Mohair Glitter, colour 313. White sample: Cabeza de Alfiler Merino DK, colour 000.

Fashion

The garment features a relaxed, drop-shoulder construction and is worked from the top down. The sleeves are shaped directly from the armhole by picking up stitches and are worked in the round, creating a soft balloon-style silhouette. The design includes beaded motifs that resemble delicate "painted stains", formed with beads of different sizes.

The Night

The cardigan is worked seamlessly from the top down. The design incorporates lace and sequins inserted with a crochet hook as you work.

Yarn: MC: Isager Silk Mohair, colour 2S. CC: Rico Fashion Cotton, colour 021.

Sensitive

Sensitive is one of my earliest designs. I wanted it to be part of this book because it came straight from the most vulnerable corner of my heart. For this edition, I refined and updated the pattern, keeping its soul intact while improving the details and structure, so it reflects how much I’ve grown as a designer since then.

Yarn: Julie Asselin Fino, colour Echo and Aprés la pluie; Julie Asselin Anatolia, colour Echo.

Lumina sweater

Luminais inspired by the idea of perfection and how things will not always turn out that way. This is depicted by adding a little disruption to the geometric shapes. The sweater and the cowl stand out thanks to the colourwork and beadwork motifs. When worn together they look like a single garment.

Yarn: Allpa Merino Mohair, colours Nâcar and Honey Glow.

Lumina cowl

The cowl is worked seamlessly in the round using colourwork and bead techniques, using the same motifs as the Lumina sweater.

Yarn: Allpa Merino Mohair, colours Nâcar and Honey Glow.

Wild Rose

Wild Rose is inspired by the spirit of a wild rose: beautiful and delicate at first glance, yet resilient, and quietly strong. Techniques used include lace, welts, bead knitting, and German short rows.

Yarn: Madejasur Kid mohair, colour Pink Damask; Madejasur Merino Sock, colours Love Me Do, Roses and Calm.

Love Song

Love Song is a triangular shawl that highlights two key techniques featured throughout this book: I-cord braids and beadwork motifs. The design is inspired by a phrase often heard in my home, as well as by the title of a song I have loved for many years, All You Need Is Love.

Yarn: Artyarns Merino Cloud, colours 2380, 1044 and 2241.

Boho

Boho vest is a short bolero that stands out for its roosimine motifs and beadwork, combining texture with a subtle shimmer. Aesthetically, the vest adds character and a special touch to any outfit.
