Description

Laine 29, Damson, includes 15 beautiful knits well-suited for warmer seasons. The patterns are worked in a variety of techniques, from intricate cables and modern openwork to cosy brioche and meditative stockinette stitch. The photos capture the spirit of lazy, lingering summer days in the garden. The photoshoot drew inspiration from the movie The Hours, particularly the effortless style of Clarissa Vaughan, portrayed by Meryl Streep, as well the beauty of the English countryside, which serves as the backdrop for one of the film’s storylines.

Designers featured in this issue: Pauline Fanguin, Joanna Filip, Saysha Greene, Kaori Katsurada, Marija Korać, Sarianna Lehtonen, Sara Markkula, Paula Narkiniemi, Sari Nordlund, Anne-Sophie Nørby Velling, Serena Qiu, Camille Romano and Lis Smith.

We also meet Olga Fahim, the creator behind Gotham Knits (@gotham.knits), who has become a pioneer of comical knitting content online. And in our Five Ways article, we have gathered a few key points all knitters should consider when choosing the perfect material for their knitting project!

The highlights of this issue are especially the lovely summery tops and T-shirts! Those who love a delicate and feminine style will be charmed by Sari Nordlund’s Shell Song T-shirt, while fans of modern lace will enjoy knitting Marija Korać’s relaxed Sirocco top.
On summer evenings, it’s wonderful to throw on a sweater that’s warm but not too hot: such as Sara Markkula’s Isabell, knitted with a single strand of silk mohair and large needles for a soft, mesh-like texture, or Joanna Filip’s cherry-red Cerise sweater, worked in a combination of lace and stockinette stitc
In this issue, you’ll find many yarns perfect for the warmer seasons — there are cotton and Merino blends (in Serena Qiu’s Uru shawl), linen and cotton blends (in Pauline Fanguin’s Murano top and Lis Smith’s Camp Bandana shawl), and a lovely mix of Merino, silk and ramie (in Paula Narkiniemi’s Zendaya set).

“I love Laine’s bold approach to styling and photographing their designs. Each shoot is thoughtfully considered and visually striking. The entire team is both professional and warm — it’s a true joy to be part of it.”

– Emilia Lönnberg, the model of the knitwear photos in this issue
