Description

Stormfell sweater knitting pattern was born from a feeling, the need for something quiet and grounding. A handmade knit sweater to wear on ordinary days, yet still feels like a small gesture of care. I had designed its older sibling, Albarn sweater, a while back: warm, bold and comforting, but too heavy for everyday wear.

This one had to be different: lighter, softer, easier to reach for. The kind of knit that calms the mind with its rhythm, yet still makes you feel put together.

Worked seamlessly from the top down, Stormfell features a relaxed drop-shoulder silhouette and a sculptural turtleneck – simple, but striking. Knitted in Laine x Novita DK and Novita Edith Silk Mohair, this knitting pattern creates a soft, airy, and elegant handmade knitwear project. I chose a dark blue that reminds me of home: a town tucked between two lakes, where the sky and water often blur into one.

1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9) Recommended ease: Approx. 11.75” / 30 cm of positive ease. The model (5’9” / 175 cm) is wearing size 2.  

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 
Bust circumference: 44 (48, 52, 56, 60) (63, 67, 72, 76)” / 110 (120, 130, 140, 150) (157.5, 167.5, 180, 190) cm.  Upper arm circumference: 16,5 (17, 18.5, 19, 19.5) (20.5, 21, 22, 22.5)” / 41.25 (42.5, 48.25, 47.5, 48.75) (51.25, 52.5, 55, 56.25) cm. Back length (neckline excluded): 20.75 (21.25, 21.5, 21.5, 22) (22.25, 22.5, 23, 23.5)” / 53 (54, 55, 55, 56) (57, 57.5, 58.5, 59.5) cm. Length from underarm to hem: 12.25” / 31 cm or as desired. Sleeve length from underarm: 17.25” / 44 cm or as desired. Turtleneck length (folded): 3.25” / 8 cm. (Unfolded: 6.25” / 16 cm).  

MATERIALS 
Yarn: Stormfell is knitted with two yarns held together. 
1. 5 (5, 5, 6, 6) (6, 7, 7, 8) skeins of Laine x Novita DK by Novita (70% Falkland Wool, 15% Bluefaced Leicester, 15% Bluefaced Kerry Hill, 246 yds / 225 m – 100 g), colourway: 1831 Silent Storm.
Alternatively, you can use approx. 1003 (1083, 1188, 1260, 1347) (1431, 1521, 1643, 1739) yds / 918 (990, 1089, 1153, 1232) (1309, 1391, 1503, 1591) m of any similar DK-weight yarn with comparable yardage.

2. 4 (5, 5, 5, 6) (6, 6, 7, 7) balls of Edith by Novita (70% mohair, 30% silk, 229 yds / 210 m – 25 g), colourway: 1731 Night. Alternatively, you can use approx. 897 (968, 1062, 1126, 1204) (1279, 1359, 1469, 1555) yds / 822 (887, 974, 1034, 1104) (1173, 1246, 1347, 1426) m of any similar lace-weight yarn with comparable yardage.

NEEDLES: US 6 / 4 mm circular needles for ribbing and US 10.5 / 6.5 mm circular needles for stockinette stitch.  

GAUGE 16 sts 21 rows = 4” / 10 cm on US 10.5 / 6.5 mm needles in stockinette stitch.

Customs and import charges

Laine Publishing is not responsible for any additional customs clearance charges. Customs policies vary widely between countries, so please contact your local customs office for further information.

Once packages leave Finland, they become the responsibility of your national postal service or courier company. We can provide tracking and customs information upon request.

We are legally required to declare all international purchases as merchandise with their full value. We cannot mark items as gifts or declare a lower value than the purchase price.

Import duties or taxes may apply when the package arrives in your country.

We will continue shipping to the US after the new tariff regulations take effect on 29 August.
