Description

Entwined: Cables, Lace and Knitted Textures invites you to explore enchanting stitch patterns. This collection of 20 knitwear designs includes a range of garments and accessories — from elegant sweaters and cosy cardigans to beautiful hats and shawls. For this book, Meiju Kallio presents not only the intricate cables she is known for but also a variety of other textures, all crafted to suit a modern, versatile handmade style. Meiju hopes that working on these designs brings you joy and a sense of accomplishment.

Meiju Kallio lives in Helsinki, Finland, with her three sons. Ever since she was young, Meiju has preferred to design her own knitting patterns and that desire has grown into both a passionate hobby and part-time work as well as a way to navigate the ups and downs of life. Entwined is her second knitwear collection and it follows the success of her debut book, Contrasts, published by Laine Publishing in 2021.

For Meiju, knitting has become a way to work through deep sorrows and life changes. When hands perform repetitive, mechanical motions, the mind finds space to process or simply rest.
There is something captivating about cables—they often draw you in, inviting you to stare and trace how the lines twist around one another and how the pattern unfolds.
The collection consists of the qualities Meiju values in knitwear design — exploration and combining different elements.

“I hope you, the knitter, find joy and a sense of accomplishment as you work on these designs. And I hope that knitting these pieces brings you moments of well-being.”
