Our winter issue features knits with elaborate and beautiful textures. Kaori Katsurada’s Cinnamon Twists raglan sweater is worked in a combination of twisted stitches and cables, while Sara Ottosson’s Brick Road scarf features slipped stitches creating diagonal lines on top of a garter-stitch base.
In addition to well-established knitwear designers, Laine wants to highlight up-and-coming names that we hope to see more of in the future. In this issue, we meet Liza Lewis, whose stunning colourwork sweater Dazzler is her first-ever published pattern! Liza is a designer/illustrator whose work includes children’s books, for example.
It’s always inspiring to see how designers can create something unique with seemingly simple ideas. The striking feature of Vibe Ulrik Søndergaard’s Unfold sweater’s is the deep, wide collar, while the Cora vest by Pablo Aneiros has an interesting construction: the rectangular-shaped vest is open at the sides and tied with narrow knitted ribbons.

”The January photo shoot was probably the coldest in my modelling career, and it was great to warm up inside the Bosgård Manor between the outdoor shots. The idyllic, quiet place almost made me dream of moving to the countryside.”

Mia Zambra, the model in this issue’s knitwear photos

“The most touching story in this issue was the article by Amelia Hodsdon about Loose Ends: an international charity who helps to complete unfinished craft projects left behind by loved ones who have passed away. We get to read about a very special blanket that a volunteer knitter finished out of the kindness of her heart. I was moved to tears while editing the text.”
